3 Types Of Pool Fences

Pool fences are designed to keep unwanted animals and people from entering your pool, and also provide a unique aspect to the aesthetic of your yard. There are a number of different types of pool fences available on the market, each of which carries a distinctive set of advantages and drawbacks with them. Understanding what each type of pool fence has to offer can help make it easier for you to choose the one that best suits your needs.

Glass

The main draw of glass pool fences is the modern, luxurious aesthetic that it provides to your yard. It allows for natural light to flow into your pool during the day, and also does not restrict your view while swimming.

However, it should be noted that glass pool fences require constant maintenance, as dirt and other debris quickly becomes noticeable on the clear surface of the fence. Furthermore, glass pool fences can be easily broken by severe weather or physical trauma, and are completely useless as privacy screens for your pool.

Mesh

Mesh pool fencing is a specialty type of fence that is only designed to be kept in place temporarily. It is lightweight and easily installed and moved as needed, and is designed to act as a physical barrier between small children and pets and your pool. As such, it is the perfect safety measure, and will not disrupt the appearance of your home or block sunlight from reaching your pool.

However, mesh pool fences are not able to keep out adults, and since they are transparent, are not ideal as privacy screens either. They are also not very durable, and can become damaged or ripped over time due to excessive weather exposure.

Aluminum

A traditional fence repurposed for use around a pool, aluminum fencing is highly durable and rust proof, which makes it ideal as both a safety barrier for small children but also as a security measure to keep people from sneaking into your pool. Aluminum is a fairly lightweight material, which makes it much easier and cheaper to install when compared to more traditional fencing materials like wood or wrought iron.

However, aluminum fences tend to be made up out of black and bulky bars, which does not provide a very luxurious poolside aesthetic and can disrupt the appearance of your yard, as it will be located in the middle instead of around the edges of your property.
